Narrative
Texas and Southern adapted inbred lines derived from tropical populations and/or tropical x temperate inbreds. Made hybrids that met or exceeded commercial hybrids yield when crossed with elite Stiff-Stalk testers. Inbreds and their hybrids are adapted to high day and night temperatures and water stress experienced in central and south Texas. Reduced incidence of foliar diseases Lepidopteran insects and aflatoxin. Seed exceptionally high quality, flinty and large which translates to grain. Late flowering in U.S. and exhibit some to high degrees of photoperiod sensitivity. For a full description with data and photos, please see associated article by Murray et al. 2018 “Tx741, Tx777, Tx779, Tx780 and Tx782 inbred maize lines for yield and Southern United States stress adaptation” in the Journal of Plant Registrations.
