Environment description: Very biologically diverse prairie remnant with variable habitats.

Comment: Accession collected from one of Iowa’s best and largest glacial kettleholes. A survey from 1972-1973 (Freese and Platt 1991) documented 299 species, representing 177 genera and 59 familes. This site has roughly 50 acres of reconstructed prairie utilizing seeds from the preserve and an additional prairie (Cayler Prairie) located four miles to the north. A total of six areas sampled throughout the 110 acre prairie with the greatest distance between two areas sampled at approximately 0.45 miles. Coordinates provided refer to the central area of the population/area sampled.
