Narrative
The parent R01-3597F is a selection from the cross 'Caviness' X Pl423912 (Perry et al., 1988). V96-7198 is a selection from the cross V87-261 X 'Tamba' (Perry et al., 1988). The pedigree for V87-261 is unknown. The cross was made in 2004 and the derived plant population was advanced to the F4 generation using a bulked pod descent method. Single plants were selected and threshed individually, and then the F4:5 lines were evaluated in 3-m rows in 2009. Visual selection was made based on plant uniformity and overall field performance.
