LECA-332 SAND-HZ4 roundhead lespedeza germplasms is adapted to the Sandhills of Nebraska and adjacent states. There is also variation within this germplasm for maturity, plant height and other traits. Plant breeders can use this germplasms as a base population for cultivar development or companies producing seed of native plants can use it as a seed source of known adaptation. Roundhead lespedeza can be used in plantings for forage, conservation, pollinators, and wildlife food.

LECA-332 SAND-HZ4 was based on seed collected from three sandy prairie sites in the Nebraska Sandhills which is in the temperate Great Plains steppe ecoregion and Plant Hardiness Zone 4. Collections for used to developed this germplasm were intermated in isolation for 2 generations.
