Narrative
TN11-5140 has white flowers, gray pubescence, tan pod wall, and a determinate growth habit. The plants show good resistance to lodging. The seeds have buff hila and are yellow with smooth seed coats. The seed size is approximately 12.8 grams per hundred seeds. Averaged over three years (2014-2016) of the USDA Southern Uniform Testing Program, TN11-5140 had 35.6% protein and 19.7% oil on a 13% moisture basis, resulting in a 48.2% average protein concentration in soymeal (where ≥ 47.5 % is considered high protein soymeal). TN11-5140 matures approximately 2-4 days earlier than AG 6534 and NC-ROY, and 3-4 days later than 5601T. The relative maturity of TN11-5140 is approximately 6.0. Soybean line TN11-5140 is resistant to southern root knot nematode [Meloidogyne incognita (Kofoid and White) Chitwood] (score = 1), (Gillen and Shelton, 2017). TN11-5140 is also resistant stem canker [caused by Diaporthe phaseolorum (Cooke & Ellis) Sacc. var. caulivora K.L. Athow & R.M. Caldwell] (score = 1) (Gillen and Shelton, 2017).

Description:
Soybean line TN11-5140 is derived from a single plant reselection at the F21 generation within cultivar 5601T, which is an F6 derived line from the cross of ‘Hutcheson’ × TN89-39 (Pantalone et al., 2003). Given the added generations of inbreeding, TN11-5140 (99.999% homozygous) has removed nearly all of the residual genetic heterozygosity present in 5601T (96.875% homozygous).
