Environment description: Moist, northwest facing slope. Growing with Acer okamotoanum, Schizophragma, Hydrangea petiolaris.
Comment: DESCRIPTION: Seedlings about 10-12cm tall with 2 leaves. Leaves green to yellow in color. Mature trees usually multi-stemmed, probably due to coppicing. Bark charcoal gray, smooth to warty. DBH about 50cm on some.
