Narrative
Received as seedlings, originally identified as C. glandulifera var. hypoglauca. This material agrees with C. glandulifera as recognized in the Flora of China. The lone individual of this accession has been selected at USNA for evaluation as a potential cultivar based on its unusually good floral and habit qualities; its flowers are a bright, rich yellow color with a strong primrose/lemon fragrance and are borne densely along the branches in compact, dense clusters; the branches are especially stout and thick relative to many other Corylopsis, and the plant maintains a rounded, compact habit with pleasing zig-zag stems. The leaves are an attractive dark blue-green color with thick substance when grown in adequate sunlight. According to the SSR study by Lattier et al. (2022), this accession is hexaploid, as are most other accessions identified as C. glandulifera; although this accession does not apper directly in the cluster analysis, a probable cutting-grown offspring distributed to a cooperator that is listed as MS2016-248*# clustered together with multiple individuals of C. glandulifera NA 57391. -SBL
