14 seedlings received as Rhus sp. From USDA Plant Inventory No. 123: "From China. Seeds presented by H. H. Chung, National Wu-Han University. Wu-chang, Hupeh. Received June 21, 1935. Collected in Patung, Chienshih, and Enshih Districts of western Hupeh, and introduced for Department specialists. [...] 111376. Rhus sp. Anacardiaceae. No. 69." The only surviving plant of this accession in recent years was a female; its propagules (NA 41.01-H and 41.01-J) are fruiting with either another species' pollen, or are doing so without pollination and/or fertilization. Reidentification as R. punjabensis var. sinica by S. Lura, 7/11/2025.
