Locality: Gloucester, village of Magnolia: Ravenswood Park; northeast corner of the swamp.

Environment description: Kettle hole swamp, red maple dominant. Muck soil.

Comment: Tree. o number on tree, NE corner of swamp. Probably the rarest tree in New England, this is the only known wild population. Population in severe decline due to nibbling and antler rubbing by deer. Deer fence erected and seems to be reversing this trend. Cuttings were harvested with the permission of the Trustees of Reservations and with collecting permit supplied by the State Botanist, Brian Connolly.
