Locality: Arc of Appalachia Preserve System: Highlands Nature Sanctuary, Appalachian Forest Museum trail down near Rocky Fork Creek.
Habitat: Wild Habitat
Environment description: Occasionally growing on the limestone bluffs and boulders under a deciduous canopy in the cool of Rocky Fork Creek. Always growing with a thick mat of mosses.
Associated species: Tsuga canadensis; Tilia sp.; Liriodendron tulipifera; Thuja sp.; Hydrangea arborescens; Anemone acutiloba; Cystopteris bulbifera
Comment: DESCRIPTION: Small plants with only last year's foliage apparent.
