Locality: Shennongjia Forestry District: Laojunshan Yaowan canyon on west side of Jiuchonghe (Jiuchong River), ca 1 km south of Mucheng.
Elevation: 1125m.
Habitat: Wild Habitat
Environment description: Steep, disturbed slope. Northeast exposure. Elevation: 1000-1250 meters.
Comment: Fruits turning blue. [Evidently this collection may have consisted of two different Ophiopogon species, with the second taxon being mistaken initially for a Liriope; see NA 54659 / SABE 454A.]

Not recorded with original SABE material. Found growing with SABE 454 (NA 49348), Ophiopogon graminifolia [eventually identified as O. japonicus], fall 1984; this material was identified initially as Liriope sp. Det. early 2018 by SBL & ATW as an Ophiopogon species, not Liriope. A flowering specimen of the whole plant (with roots) will be needed to determine the species. [Keys to O. japonicus. It is not a particularly ornamental form, however. -SBL]
