Description:
Pinto bean cultivar Blackfoot was selected from the multiple-parent population USPT-CBB-1/3/‘Othello’/‘UI 906’//‘Topaz’/‘Buster’. Single plant selections were made for soil iron and zinc deficiency resistance in the field in F1 followed by bulk-selection for resistance to BCMV in F2 and F3 and for other agronomic traits across stressed and non-stressed conditions from F4 to F6. Blackfoot is a bulk of three early maturity F7-derived F9 breeding lines from the same F4:7 family.
