Narrative
UA 5814HP is a conventional soybean cultivar with a relative maturity of 5.8, well adapted to Arkansas and other southern states. UA 5814HP has determinate growth habit with oval dark-green leaves, purple flowers, tawny pubescence, tan pod walls, and brown seed-hilum color. Plants are 91 cm tall and resistant to lodging. Seeds of UA 5814HP have, on average, a seed size of 17.0 g/100 seed, with 455 g/kg of protein and 205 g/kg of oil (dry weight basis). UA 5814HP is resistant to stem canker [Diaporthe phaseolorum var. meridionalis], frogeye leaf spot [Cercospora sojina], charcoal rot [Macrophomina phaseolina], and susceptible to races 2 and 5 of soybean cyst nematode [Heterodera glycines], southern root-knot nematode [Meloidogyne incognita], and reniform nematode [Rotylenchus reniformis].

Description:
UA 5814HP was originated from the cross R95-1705 and S00-9980-22. Both parents were selected forcrossing because of their high seed protein content. The cross R95-1705 x S00-9980-22 was made insummer 2004 in Fayetteville, AR, and the F1 plants were grown in 2005 in the same location. Theplant population was advanced from F2 to F4 using a modified single-pod descent method.
