Narrative
Cuttings collected at Arnold Arboretum. Flowers white, tinged with pink, single. Listed in nursery catalog from Orléans, France without description in 1874. Listed in catalog from Andorra Nursery, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1906 with description. The name 'Candidissima' replaced older names for the same cultivar. Already known in Europe in 1813, probably introduced from Japanese gardens. ** C. Weber. 1963. Cultivars in the genus Chaenomeles. Arnoldia 23:17-75.
