Environment description: Degraded remnant sand prairie/savanna, open grassland. Deep, loamy sand.
Number of plants sampled: 50
Associated species: Quercus stellata, Carya pallida, Sassafras albidum, Opuntia humifusa, Triplasis purpurea, Diodea teres, Andropogon ternarius, Cyperus grayoides, and Heterotheca subaxillaris.
Comment: Most plants dormant, but approximately 40% of plants observed with green basal growth and several plants in flower at time of seed collection. Thousands of plants noted atop of sand ridge as well as on level terrain. Specimens growing to 0.5 m.
