Environment description: Mixed upland forest and wetlands. Growing in association with Quercus macrocarpa, Populus balsamifera, Populus tremuloides, Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Amelanchier sp., Symphoricarpos albus, Corylus sp., Prunus virginiana, Rubus sp., Viburnum opulus var. americanum, and Cirsium arvense.
