Narrative
Resistance to late blight. Is a full sib from the following cross: (S. verrucosum 275260 x US-W4) x XD3. The pedigree of XD3 is US-W4 x S. chacoense 275138. US-W4 is a dihaploid derived from the University of Minnesota breeding line Minn 20-20-34. The S. verrucosum clone (ver4) contains the RB orthologous gene for resistance to late blight. It produces round white tubers with white flesh and has acceptable tuber yield in the field. It is female fertile and moderately male fertile and crosses readily with diploid cultivated potato, but is not directly crossable to tetraploid cultivated potato. The dry matter content is high, which is an important trait when breeding for processing quality.
