Locality: Dozens of plants spread occassionally throughout a wet alder thicket. Most plants less than 15 cm in height (rarely exceeding 30 cm). Few fruits observed, with fruit set either low or perhaps completed by date of site visit.

Environment description: Alder thicket adjacent to Price Creek Road in the Flambeau River State Forest, Winter township, Sawyer County, WI. Growing with Alnus incana, Ilex mucronata, and Larix laricina. Lonicera villosa restricted primarily to higher, somewhat shaded, microsites created around Larix laricina growing among the floating peat mats of the alder thicket.
