Locality: At least a dozen plants growing in the understory of a wooded swamp, with the largest plants greater than a half meter in height.

Environment description: Understory of red maple swamp adjacent to Pattee Pond in Winslow township, Kennebec County, ME. Site is a more-or-less flat area about a foot above the water level of Pattee Pond. Plants were growing under a canopy of Acer rubrum and Fraxinus pensylvanica with Spiraea alba and Sarracenia purpurea.
