Locality: Several hundred plants in ditch south and east of railroad track, most plants less than 15 cm in height (rarely exceeding 30 cm). To the southwest of the collection site, taller plants were found occasionally along the margin of the woods bordering the tracks, but were not fruiting.

Environment description: Wet ditch and edge of woods along railroad tracks southwest of Crystal, Aroostook County, ME. Growing with Betula pumila and Lonicera oblongifolia, Larix laricina, Thuja occidentalis, Sarracenia purpurea, and Drosera.
