Narrative

This collection represents genetics from the far western range of Kentucky coffeetree. Numerous large specimens were noted throughout this area and specimens 674-4 and 674-5 were collected in the vicinity of the current (2019) Oklahoma State Champion Gymnocladus dioicus which was nominated by Carstens and Schmitz in 2015. The state champion specimen (likely a male) was officially measured on 21 April 2015 by Riley Coy (Oklahoma Forestry Services): 100.5" circumference, 90' in height, 51.5' crown spread totalling 203 points.
