Environment description: Mixed mesic, deciduous/coniferous forest, along edge of road on thin rocky soils. Growing in association with Picea asperata, Salix sp., Sorbus sp., Spiraea sp., Abies fargesii var. faxoniana, Betula albosinensis, and Betula utilis.

Comment: Shrub, height 1.5 meters; multi-stemmed; thin and tall; bark tan-brown; leaves slightly obovate -1 centimeter wide by 2 centimeters long; fruit - cymes of brown capsules, borne along axillary stems.
