Narrative
CMS GIG2-RV produced no seed when self-pollinated, and 69.4% and 75.7o/o seed set, under either open-pollination or backcrossing with HA89, respectively, suggesting complete male-sterility and normal female fertility. CMS GIG2-RV is single-headed with a plant height 68.3 em, flowers in 78 days after planting, head diameters of 4.1 em, 1000-seed weight of 29.8 grams, and black seed with grey stripes. In comparison, CMS HA 89 is single-headed with a plant height, days to flowering, head diameter, 1 000-seed weight, and seed color of 120.3 em, 71 days, 15.4 em, 72.4 grams, and black seed with grey stripes, respectively.

CMS GIG2-RV has the genotype of rf4rf4rvrv and produces reduced-vigor plants when self-pollinated.
