Narrative
Morphological traits of Arkot 0305 are similar to 'DP 393' (check cultivar), except Arkot 0305 was 5.9% taller and has 10.3% lower trichome density on bract margins. Over 16 replicated field tests in Arkansas, lint yields of Arkot 0305 were equal to lint yield ofDP393. Yields of Arkot 0305 were produced with equal weight of lint per seed (lint index) and an equal number of seed per area as DP 393. Compared to DP 393, Arkot 0305 produced lower seed index (6.5%), fiber strength (5.1 %) and fiber elongation (6.9 vs. 7.6%); equal fibers per seed, fiber quality score, micronaire, fiber length, and length uniformity; and higher lint percentage (40.1 vs. 39.1 %), open boll percentage (65 vs 61 %), and fiber density (fibers per unit area of seed surface, 5.6%). Arkot 0305 is resistance to all U.S. races of Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. malvacearum (Smith) Dye, the causal agent of bacterial blight. Arkot 0305 is as resistant to tarnished plant bug [Lygus Iineolaris (Palisot de Beauvois)] as DP393 and more resistant a susceptible Frego bract check. Response of Arkot 0305 to fusarium wilt [caused by Fusarium oxysporum Schlect. F. sp. vasinfectum (Atk.) Snyd. and Hans.] was equal to the resistant check, M-315.
