Environment description: Malus fusca were sampled on both sides of a beach access road just west of highway 101 near Crescent Beach, south of Crescent Ciyt, CA. This is a highly disturbed area with domesticated apples growing nearby and larger fruit size apple like leaves on some of the fusca trees sampled, indicating possible hybridization. Additional associated species include Alnus rubra, Rubus spp., and Salix sp.
