Environment description: Malus fusca were sampled at a pullout where the highway crosses the Duckabush River. This is a highly disturbed area with nearby habitation and seedling domestic apples growing within meters of the sampled fusca bushes. Only three Malus fusca were sampled here and fruits were found on only one of them. Associated species include Alnus rubra, Pseudotsuga menziesii, Salix sp., and Rubus sp., among others.
