Locality: La Joya Wildlife Management Area, gated access from dirt road, south from Interstate 25 Exit 169, north of Socorro.

Environment description: Seasonally marshy low area near a series of impounded seasonal ponds and canals. Associated with cattails, salt cedar, salt grass.
Comment: Extensive, scattered population. Well past flowering at time of collection. Only Helianthus paradoxus area we observed with extensive H. annuus populations adjacent to and co-mingled with the H. paradoxus.
