Narrative
CL 152 is a semidwarf, early-maturing Clearfield long-grain variety with good grain and milling yields and excellent grain quality. CL 152 averaged 39 inches in height in yield tests across Louisiana compared with 39 and 39 for CL 151 and CL 111 , respectively. CL 152 matures later than both CL 151 and CL 111 . The average number of days from emergence to 50% heading is 83, 81, and 77 for CL 152, CL 151 , and CL 11 1, respectively. The leaves, lemma, and palea of CL 152 are glabrous. The spikelet Is straw-colored. The apiculus color is purple at heading and fades slightly as the grain approaches maturity. The grain is non-aromatic. Leaves are very dark green and display an intermediate leaf angle. CL 152 has the typical long-grain cooking quality with high amylose content and intermediate gelatinization temperature. The bran is light brown. Grain is nonglutinous and displays an average amylose content of CL 152 is 23.5% compared with 22.4 and 22.8% of CL 151 and CL 111 , respectively. The average alkali spread value of CL 152. CL 151, and CL 111 is 4.0, 4.0, and 4.2, respectively. CL 152 is susceptible to rice sheath blight and bacterial panicle blight and moderately susceptible to blast. The variety is moderately resistant to straighthead disorder.
