Environment description: Grazed, hilly sagebrush/grassland with 25-30 degree slope on sandy loam soils. Growing in association with Hesperostipa comata, Ratibida columnifera, Dalea purpurea, Koeleria macrantha, Pseudoroegneria spicata ssp. spicata, Artemisia tridentata ssp. wyomingensis, Artemisia cana, Opuntia sp., Pinus ponderosa, and Juniperus communis.
