W-376 is a clonally propagated sweetpotato genotype that originated from a single seed from a polycross breeding nursery in 1995 in which 26 parents were randomly distributed in four field replications at the USDA ARS, U. S. Vegetable Laboratory (USVL), Charleston, SC. Pollination was by natural bee populations. Its original designation was 96-086, and it was later renamed W-376. The maternal parent of W-376 is W-285 from the sweetpotato breeding program at the USVL. The paternal parent of W-376 is one of the other 25 genotypes in the polycross nursery
