Locality: South Carolina, Greenville County, Traveler's Rest, along HWY 276, just north of town, in eroded scrubland lot on the east side of highway.
Environment description: Several shrubby plants in exposed red clay soil.
Comment: Height 0.5 - 1 meter. Showy red fruit, dense thorny and geniculate branches, small leaves., May warrant synonymy as C. munda, but a distinct genotype, closer to the ambiguous species of C. geniculata Ashe.
