Environment description: rocky slope in part shade along woodland edge just above floodplain of stream in large almost impenetrable masses, untouched by grazing animals, 0.15 slope, S, well-drained rocky soils deposited among rocks in floodplain; generally silty-sandy soils, in association with Clematis sp., Anemone hupehensis, Lonicera sp., Rosa sp., Piptanthus concolor, Ulmus sp., Euonymus sp., Pinus tabuliformis and numerous herbaceous plant species
Comment: 2-4 meters; multi-stemmed, needled evergreen shrub with upright spreading habit and lateral spreading branches; bark reddish-brown; fruit green or brown and plum-like with soft skin and soft mealy interior
