Environment description: growing in partial shade above streambed in moist, but well drained soils in assoc. w/ Stransvaesia sp., Lindera sp., Euonymus alatus, bamboo, Fagus engleriana, Rhododendron, sp., Salix sp.,Acer sp., and other unidentified species.
Comment: parent plants are multi-stemmed, evergreen shrubs w/ upright spreading habit from 1 to 3 meters tall, lvs are dark green, narrow, needle-like and sickle-shaped w/ prominent white stomatal bands on the undersurface., Four seedlings collected
