Locality: North Carolina, Haywood County, Harmon Den area, along Pisgah National Forest Rd 288 (Buzzard Roost Rd), south of crossing over Pigeon River.
Comment: Fruit collected from several trees scattered along Rd. 288, between point of river crossing and switchback ascending slope. Exchange of pollen with a few Magnolia fraseri in same vicinity could be possible, but natural hybrids with M. tripetala as the mother parent are unknown.
