Locality: Ismayilli District (Rayon): Topchu Village: in forest and forest clearings on private property.

Habitat: Wild Habitat
Environment description: Carpinus forest and forest clearings, grazed heavily underneath with little low vegetation.
Associated species: Carpinus betulus.
Comment: Trees to 80' high in forest, with age forming broad upper crown and few low branches on a large trunk (to 3' diameter or more); younger trees symmetrical and pyramidal in outline. Leaves very large, ca. 8" across, some with necrotic lesions, particularly on very exposed plants, less so in forest., Collected from several plants. Thought initially to be Acer velutinum, identified as A. pseudoplatanus after consulting Flora of Azerbaijan; later determined to actually be Acer velutinum.
