Environment description: Oak-pine mixed deciduous forest, mesic woods, growing along trail at top of steep gorge., 80 degrees slope, S, Thin, rocky, Growing in association with Pinus tabuliformis, Sorbus discolor, quercus liaotungensis, Carpinus, Euonymus, Viburnum, Acer davidii, Acer truncatum, Cornus bretschneideriSyringa, Acer ginnala
Comment: Multi-stemmed shrub, growing at crest of ravine. Height: 2.5 m. Bark: Tan, not exfoliating. Leaves: 5.5 cm wide x 8.0 cm long; glabrous. Fruit: 0.5 cm long x 1.0 cm long; green, retaining four sepals., Collected from one plant. Seed was collected with six herbarium samples. (WILD). Pinus tabuliformis national nature preserve.
