Environment description: Collected from open alpine tundra. Ground was covered with a deep layer of moss. Dwarfed Betula (ca 15-20 cm tall) was scatteed across site, as was prostrate Vaccinium uliginosum and Empetrum nigrum.
Comment: Collected from the wild northeast of Fairbanks, Alaska, USA Empetrum nigrum was colelcted from a 300 m radius of the site. Few berries were present. Fruit size was aveage to below average for the region.
