Locality: Collected from a 30-50 m wide clearing between a taiga Picea/Betula/Salix forest and the fence of an Alaska Department of Transportation facility on the northwest side of the Steese Highway ca 88 km northeast of Fairbanks, Alaska, USA.

Environment description: Taiga forest, primarily Picea and Betula with some Salix. Empetrum nigrum was relatively abundant and relataively productive on the site with fruit size average for the region. Vaccinium uliginosum was abundant and productive on site. Vaccinium vitis-idaea was relatively abundant and relatively productive, but the fruit was ca one month from ripening.
Comment: Collected from the wild near Fairbanks, Alaska Collected E. nigrum from a 50 m radius of the site.
