Narrative
Across 11 field tests and 5 years at Lubbock, College Station, TX and Stoneville, MS, TTU 0782 had average fiber length of 32.4 mm. This value is 8% longer than the length of FiberMax 958 and 2% longer than MD 15, an excellent fiber quality cultivar in the Delta. Has 12% higher fiber strength than FiberMax 958 at Lubbock and College Station, respectively, and 26% higher strength than MD 25 and 10% higher than MD 15ne at Stoneville, MS. The length uniformity indexes at both Lubbock and College Station were 2% higher for the candidate germplasm line. Showed higher mean length (Ln) and upper quartile length (UQLw) and shorter fiber content (SFCn) when compared to FiberMax 958 and the previously registered germplasm lines. Had higher maturity ratio and fewer nep counts than FiberMax 958. Among the top 5% of performers in yarn tests for tenacity according to Uster Technologies AG. Among top 5% for low hairiness, among the top 25% for thin and think places and nep counts. The superior fiber quality trait should make it a valuable breeding line in the improvement of fiber quality.
