"May be a hybrid between lemon x citron?"`"I doubt it may be a hybrid between citron and lemon." 08-2000: "I am eager to know its genetic background because we plan to grow it in a large scale for its juice and oil. But before determining its species status, we can do nothing." (donor's notes) Of 55 seeds, 21 germinated. ISSR markers revealed that the seedlings were all unique and therefore zygotic (work performed by Prof Mikeal Roose, 2001). So perhaps more likely a citron? Photographs also appear more citron-like than lemon-like. (RR Krueger, 01/24/2010)On 01/08/2009, three seedlings were selected and propagated for maintenance under protection: RRUT 425, RRUT 426, and RRUT 430. The remainder of the seedlings will be maintained for the time being. RRUT 430 was selected from a tree that was an apparent offtype, differing from other trees of RSD 1998039. The fruit appeared to be some sort of limelo or similar hybrid. (RR Krueger, 02/27/2010)
