Narrative
This is a selection of RSD 1997005. Of 31 seeds of RSD 1997005, 5 germinated. ISSR markers revealed that all seedlings were unique and therefore zygotic (work performed by
Prof Mikeal Roose
, 2001) . "A small-fruited species distributed in Western Yunnan [PR China]." (from donor's notes). On 10/30/2007, RSD 1997005 was observed by myself, Toni Siebert. The fruit were observed to be typically "citronish", with sour, ricey flesh and many seeds. The tree at CVARS 8K-03-01 appeared different than the other seedlings of RSD 1997005, being more similar to RSD 1996003 or 1997006. It was probably mislabelled at some point. On 01/08/2009, three selections were made for maintenance under protection: RRUT 410, 411, and 412. The remainder of the seedlings will be maintained in the field for the time being. RRUT 410 was propagated from a tree having corrugated fruit with a thick rind and no juice. (RR Krueger, 02/27/2010)
