Narrative
Medium red clover. Results from 2 years of testing showed that the actual number of cuts was four in 2001 and three in 2002. Cuttings in 2001 started in the second part of April and continue until the end of July. In 2002, cuttings started in early May and countinue till the second part of July. Had consistent high forage yield in the tests conducted at Tallassee and Fairhope, AL. Biomass yield was higher than or equal to Cherokee in each one of the cuts on both years. On average, it had a total forage dry matter production 12 to 26% higher than Cherokee. The high forage yield can be seen throughout the season. Forage yield the first cut was 45 - 52% of the total yield. Subsequent cuts amounted to 48 to 55% of the total yield. Plants are erect with pubescent stems that flower in the seeding year. Tends to flower earlier than Cherokee. Flowering can be equal to or up to 6 d earlier than Cherokee depending on the year and location. Has less number of plants that have no-mark leaflets than Cherokee. Flower color is mostly light pink 5RP 8/4, followed by medium pink 5RP 7/6, and a few dark pink 5RP 6/8 (Munsell Color, 1977).

Pedigree
Description:
Derived from intercrossing 5 populations previously selected at 5 locations (Tallassee, Fairhope, Brewton, Marion Junction and Auburn) in Alabama. Material included in the breeding populations were cultivars adapted to the southern region and plant introductions: PI 223416, 239972, 251185, 307948, 319135. Recurrent mass selection with pollen control was used. The population selected at Marion Junction, AL, was subjected to one cycle of selection whereas the rest of the populations were subjected to 2 or 3 selection cycles.
