Locality: Just west of Route 381 on north shore of Youghiogheny River, upstream from Ohiopyle Falls, Fayette County.

Environment description: Edge of major river with large exposed horizontal bedrock. Unvegetated in part, and in other areas herbs dominate. Thin soil over bedrock, full exposure. Growing are Andropogon gerardi, Sorghastrum nutans, Salix nigra, Coreopsis tripteris.
Number of plants sampled: 50
Comment: Panicum virgatum is clearly native - there is not a lot here, but it is moderately dense and unevenly scattered over a small area- plenty to gather.
