Habitat: Wild Habitat
Environment description: North-running stream valley; mesic, mixed deciduous forest; stream edge. 15 degree slope with an eastern aspect. Thin, rocky soil.
Number of plants sampled: 3
Associated species: Acer pectinatum subsp. maximowiczii, A. davidii subsp. grosseri, Betula chinensis, Carpinus cordata, Euptelea pleiosperma, and Sorbus discolor.
Comment: Three herbarium specimens collected.

Narrative
Tree; single trunk; 6 meters in height; 45 cm DBH. Grey-brown bark. Opposite leaves, pinnately compound, generally 3 (5) leaflets. Fruit: terminal panicles, samaras 2-5 cm long. Same collection locality as Ames 29831, which was a sample from a single mother tree that was kept separate due to superior quality. This accession (Ames 29830) was a collection from three specimens.
