Environment description: East-running stream valley; mesic, mixed deciduous forest; heavily cut streambank. 60 degree slope with a northeastern aspect. Rocky soil.

Associated species: Aralia elata, Salix sp., Populus purdomii, Sorbaria sorbifolia, and Philadelphus sp.

Tree; multi-stemmed; 5 meters in height; 12 cm DBH. Grey, smooth bark. Opposite leaves, pinnately compound, up to 35 cm long, 7 leaflets. Fruit: large terminal panicles, samaras up to 4 cm.
