Narrative
The two parents of RU9101001/Katy Mapping Population are PI 651498 MAP (RU9101001) and PI 527707 newly assigned PI 651499 MAP (Katy). The new PI Number for Katy reflects its association with the Mapping Population. The cross of RU9101001/Katy rice was used to develop a mapping population consisting of 238 F9 generation recombinant inbred lines of rice (GSOR 100362 to GSOR 100599). This population has been used to map major genes that provide resistance to the rice blast pathogen (Magnaporthe oryzae, formerly Magnaporthe grisea), and is expected to be useful for mapping additional genes that are segregating in the population. This population is also very diverse for days to heading, plant height, and hundred-grain weight.
