Comment:

the typification of this name was discussed by Hopkins (Rhodora 44: 198. 1942), who typified the name on a California collection, Hartweg 1706, that was cited in the protologue even though Gray was treating a Lindheimer specimen (no. 377) from Texas. There is no basis for superseding this typification (under Shenzhen ICN Art. 9.19), as a collection cited in the protologue cannot be in conflict with the protologue (see Note 7)
