Narrative
Centennial is a large shrub 240-260 cm in height with spreading branches. The leaves are alternate, ovate or oval, acute or obtuse, glabrous and dark blue-green above, whitish and greenish tomentose beneath 19-50 mm long, turning red brown in fall. Pale pink flowers are produced in May-June and bright red globular fruit mature in August. Recent observations, since the actual release in 1987, indicate that this plant is susceptible to fireblight (Erwinia amylovora).
