Locality: Numerous samples originally acquired from native prairie remnants within the southern section of three tiers of counties located in Iowa. A total of 21 sites were sampled representing 9 counties including Washington (4 sites), Appanoose (2 sites), Marion, Lee, Warren (3 sites), Union (5 sites), Monroe, Lucas (3 sites), Clarke.

Description:
Southern Iowa Germplasm was developed by bulking samples followed by a regeneration cycle executed at the University of Northern Iowa Tallgrass Prairie Center where plots were separated via distance of circa 1,500 feet from other Tradescantia ohiensis plots. Original seed was collected from remnant prairies in the southern one-third of counties in Iowa.
