Narrative
This palm differs from Livistona rotundifolia in having flattened purplish or violet colored fruits, instead of red and orange. The petioles are very spiny and there are spines on the lower margins of the leaves of young plants. The seeds are almost spherical or slightly flatenned. The plants strongly resemble those of L. merrillii." From the Descriptive List of Plants Available fro Distribution at the U.S. Plant Introduction Garden, Coconut Grove, Florida. 1940-1941
